About Us
Overview
The Wicked Running Club was founded in 2002 by Doug Bollen and Mike Toomey in Salem, Massachusetts. From humble beginnings of 20 members attending local clinics, the club has grown to 300+ athletes of all abilities and fitness goals. For our members we provide structure, support, and camaraderie through running series, coaching, club events, and more. For our communities we hold public races and philanthropy for education, scholarships and other causes. You can learn more about our history, membership benefits, and races from this web site. Mission
The mission of the Wicked Running Club is to provide the community with an organized venue in which to promote the sport of running and the benefits we believe it provides to all members, regardless of age or ability. These benefits include, but are not limited to, physical activity, which contributes to a healthy lifestyle, friendship, and social interaction as well as community outreach and support.

Communities Served
The Wicked Running Club is based in Salem, Massachusetts, and our activities are focused there and in the surrounding area. Our membership primarily comes from the cities and towns northeast of Boston, but others come from outside this immediate region.
Governance
The Wicked Running Club is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. The club has established a set of by-laws and a code of conduct for all members. Each year a Board of Directors is elected by the membership whose duties are described in the by-laws. Committees are regularly formed on an ad-hoc basis for activities such as races and events.
Affiliations
The Wicked Running Club is a member of both the USA Track and Field (USATF – club membership number 02-0266) and the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).
Membership
The Wicked Running Club is open to individuals who wish to participate in the activities of the organization. Dues start at $30/year and include a wide variety of benefits. Join Us!
Runner Friendly Community
In 2023, Wicked applied to the Road Runners Club of America to designate Salem as a Runner Friendly Community. Because of the incredible support that the city provides runners and run clubs like Wicked, fostering a safe and welcoming environment to all of us, Salem was granted the prestigious national designation.
We are thrilled to have championed this effort and helped Salem and the people that support us receive the recognition that they deserve. We hope to continue supporting the city with the same enthusiasm and care that Salem gives back to us.
