Hey Wickeds! Get to know your 2025 Board of Directors with these profiles.
President – Ashley Springett
I have been a member of Wicked since August 2021 (big thanks to Alen for recruiting me after the Beverly Yankee Homecoming race that summer!). I’ve greatly enjoyed being a part of the team for various relays and USATF races, and generally feeling all the more connected to the North Shore community (in which I have lived since 2007). 2024 has been my most active year with Wicked because in honor of my turning 40 years old, I challenged myself to wholly focus on and participate in the Wicked Grand Prix race series. In doing so, my team pride has grown exponentially, I’ve connected with some really awesome humans, and I have successfully recruited new members simply by sharing my excitement for my accomplishments and singing the club’s praises.
I have worked as a school teacher for 17 years, a dance teacher for 22 years, a certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer for 11 years, a certified yoga teacher for 3.5 years, and I am a mother to one groovy 12-year old son. I grew up an avid soccer player in my hometown of San Diego, California and was Captain of my college Dance Team (go banana slugs!); being part of a team has long been a key source of enrichment in my life. I dabbled in a few running events here and there in my youth, but wasn’t bitten by the “run-for-fun bug” until I moved across the country to the North Shore of Massachusetts at the tender age of 23, in search of something fun and movement-based that brings people together and boosts those feel-good endorphins in a healthy way. I have not run any full marathons or ultras (…yet!), but I have run 27 half marathons and countless other races over the years. I really enjoy running, as it pairs well with my love for adventure, wanderlust, movement, nature, and both physical and mental challenge, and I love to share with others my delight for running and being a part of Wicked Running Club.
I greatly value authenticity and leading with positivity. I’m big on connection, helping motivate others, and spreading joy. To some I may just be known as someone who takes a lot of photos and posts often on social media, but my skill set goes well beyond that—I’m a veteran teacher and a single mom, which means I’m incredibly hard-working and reliable, with strong communication and organization skills to boot!
Wicked Running Club is the coolest run club this side of the Mississippi— I love how inclusive, dynamic, lively, and driven we are as a collective whole….and our black cat logo is badass. It would be an honor to help this 20-year old run club continue to grow by bringing my strengths to the metaphorical table and serve as “Prez” with Deneen as my VP. Thank you so much for your consideration.
Go Wicked!

Vice President – Kelly Clinton
Hello Wicked! I’m Kelly Clinton and many of you may know me. I’m a transplant to the area and moved to the North Shore in 2011 with my husband; he grew up in Swampscott.
Since then, I have found myself trying a lot of different things in the fitness industry; the YMCA, Spin classes, boutique studio classes, CrossFit, rowing in my ocean shell, and plenty of drop in runs at breweries. All of these things introduced me to many great folks on the north shore (and sure helped me find my way around!), but the one that has felt the most like home is here with Wicked. There’s something undeniably special about this club and these people, and I’m grateful to be involved with this club.
Last year I decided to run for a board position and have been fortunate enough to serve you all as clothing director this past year. I absolutely loved helping us get some schnazzy new singlets to wear to races! I smile so hard when I see someone wearing one of our new singlets! This year, I would like to run for vice president and see this amazing club continue to grow and expand. I’m a mom to two little ladies, so I’m adept at splitting my time between a lot of things; and anyone who attends the Indo runs on Monday nights, knows that I’m always one of the last to leave; I enjoy spending time with my favorite runners as we schmooze on the back deck and talk bout races, places, and everything in between.
Running is an individual endeavor at times, but when you’re part of a club, it’s you and it’s also the club you’re representing; the name is on the singlet with our colors and Miles the cat. When you’re feeling defeated at a race, sometimes a cheer from a teammate is exactly what you need to keep pushing yourself forward. The club board is similar; we’re all individuals but when we’re together, we are working toward common goals to propel the club continuously forward into the future. This past year I’ve learned from each and every board member and grown a deep appreciation for the massive heart that we have cultivated; Grace and Zach were patient and measured, Colby has been a master behind the scenes with the newsletter and documenting, Shannon has been steadfastly keeping up the minutes, Nicole was keeping the budgets in line, Nikki has been watching membership ebb and flow, and Bill & Tom were working hard to do and be whatever we needed them to be at any given moment. I would like to take on this larger role and work my hardest to help steer this ship and work with another brilliant board to see what new ideas we can conquer in the coming year. My heart is in this one hundred percent and seeing this club continue to grow is a great joy and privilege; I would love to serve you and the running community here on the north shore with all the pride in my wicked heart as we crush goals individually and together as a club.

Secretary – Sharon Adler
My name is Sharon Adler and I am running for the position of Secretary.
I have lived on the North Shore for 16 years. I work in healthcare. When I’m not running, I also enjoy hiking, hot yoga, and cycling.
I’ve been a runner for most of my adult life but I’ve only become disciplined in the past 8 years. This past year, I’ve had the pleasure of participating in the Wicked Grand Prix. It has been an incredibly fun and valuable experience, and I’ve enjoyed being a part of the Wicked Team.
I’ve been a member of Wicked since 2022. I was first drawn to Wicked because it is a friendly group that welcomes all abilities. The support, encouragement, and camaraderie that I’ve experienced has helped me make many new friends and become a much better runner. I am proud to be a member of the Wicked Running Club, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support the club by serving on the board as secretary.

Treasurer – Steph Hassan
When I joined the Wicked a few years ago, I found that sense of community with a mix of competition and friendship. Over the last few years I have watched members step into various roles from elected positions, race directors, race volunteers, pace captains, and race day cheerleaders. May I say watching everyone step up to make our community what it is today has been enlightening.
This year I decided to run for treasurer realizing I have a background in bookkeeping, budgeting, and project management along with a passion for running and community. As treasurer my goal is to create a comprehensive budget that allows us to participate in races and community events, host our annual races(Frosty Four and Miles Over the Moon), continue to provide member benefits like group runs and track, but also give back to our members and community.

Membership Director – Kelly Pheulpin
Hello, I’m Kelly Pheulpin and I’m running for the Wicked Running Club Board’s Membership Director position in 2025.
I joined the club in late 2010, with 2011 being my first full year. As a novice runner seeking running companions, I discovered a supportive group that welcomed me with open arms. Since joining, I’ve volunteered for various opportunities, including leading the Slowest Runners Sets the Pace group, dedicated to encouraging slower runners.
I’ve directed Frosty Four and Miles Over the Moon, ensuring Wicked’s exceptional volunteer reputation with the BAA, securing invitational bibs for members. Having served on the Wicked Board, I possess a deep understanding of the requirements and meeting dynamics necessary for success.
I hope you’ll consider me for Membership Director in 2025.

Clothing Director – Anna Marie Nocente
Hello Wicked Members!
My name is Anna Marie Nocente, and I am surprised, flattered, and humbled to have been nominated for Clothing Director, especially since I haven’t been a member of Wicked for very long.
My husband and I recently moved to Salem in March of this year. I had been searching to join a running group since moving back to the east coast, but I hadn’t found the right fit. I joined Wicked prior to the move in December of 2023 to get myself familiar with the club offerings, races and events. I am a serious introvert, and it takes me a long time to warm up to new things. So, why I decided to attend the holiday part in March without knowing a single soul is beyond me because that is something I just don’t do. I almost turned around and left when I was warmly greeted by Alen, and he immediately introduced me to so many people and I felt like I was a part of something much more immediately.
I am a very late bloomer when it comes to running. I started with consistency only about 12ish years ago and I do most of my training solo, but this group has something very special about it because I was encouraged by many members to get out of my “comfort zone” by volunteering for multiple things this year.
Clothing has a way of identifying an individual whether we are aware of it or not. When you put on that Wicked singlet (or your other favorite Wicked gear) I hope you feel proud, strong, joyful and (insert your own emotion here) knowing you represent an outstanding club and community that truly welcomes all types of runners. My day job is as a clothing designer, but I don’t think that is the most significant criterion for this role. Sure, I know lots of stuff about fabrics, proper fit, manufacturing, etc. that will be helpful in selecting team merch and swag but what I really understand is the value of belonging. I want to work with Kelly and others to learn how best to keep the club looking and feeling great at our races and events whether home or away. I would also love to explore designing distinct race gear for those extra special events that so many of us work hard throughout the year to complete. I’m excited for the privilege to help serve the club and grow each of our running togs (who says “togs” anymore!) collection (because we always need more running gear). Thank you for the nomination and your consideration.

Communications Director – Dani Shirtcliff
Hello all, I am Dani ShirtCliff and I would LOVE to be your communication director – I know I am new to Wicked but think I could bring a lot to the table.
I am a marathon runner with a passion for grit and growth! I’ve conquered four marathons, including an unforgettable race in New Zealand — completed on a broken foot, proving my dedication to pushing limits. As an RRCA-certified coach, I’m committed to helping others achieve their running goals, whether they’re beginners or aiming for personal bests.
Since June, I’ve been running with the Wicked Runners, embracing the community and the thrill of every mile together. Professionally, I navigate the dynamic world of supply chain by day, bringing logistical expertise to the table. I also hold a BFA in photography, blending my creative eye with my love for the outdoors and the beauty of each race route.
Whether it’s coaching others, capturing moments on camera, or chasing the next finish line, I’m all about the journey — one stride at a time.

I joined Wicked Running Club in 2022, and since then I have advanced from a part-time member to being regularly involved in year-round events.
